How to Fix Samsung Vibrant GPS Issues!
Suffering GPS connectivity issues?
It seems like there’s an easy fix for that as a hacker points out on XDA:
Step 1 – Disable “Use Wireless Networks” – Settings / Location & Security
Step 2 – Dial *#*#1472365#*#*
Step 3 – Under “Application settings” Change “Operation Mode” to MS Based
Step 4 – Under “SUPL/CP Settings” Change the SERVER & PORT to supl.google.com and port 7276 [ Do not use www. in front of supl]
Step 5 – REBOOT
Step 6 – Turn back on the “User Wireless Networks”
According to the hacker, this will allow your Samsung Vibrant to quickly connect and no more lag!

was a little nervous after the first reboot when my nav wouldnt even open. rebooted again and worked like a charm. prior gps wouldn’t work with in 45 mins or so of where im at (at least in the directions i’ve been. im out of town) and after the hack it came right threw. stoked to take it on the road in a few days.

Same problem with Peter. it worked in 3 minutes after the hack but afterwards it freezes all the times. i then undid the hacks and have to live without the navigate function. any other hack setting? thanks for the try anyways.

Worked like a charm, don’t know what all of your problems are?

a lot of you probably dont realize that the hack does not actually fix the gps. it will find your location where you are at when you do it, but try to travel around….. drive a few miles away and see if it can lock on to your location…. it does not, at least not with mine or my wifes phone.

WTF?!
It doesnt have the http://
that was added after I posted..

Works = as in the comands go in and the fone apears to do something….
however several gps apps still place my location way way off from where i am…
possibly the time warp continum that ships with the galaxy s is somehow cloaking my real location.
Ha plz dont fix this will serve to confuse the romulans!
seriously tho it still sucks!

anyone know how to unlock after rooting? or where to find a guide on how to do this?

[drivers]
Get some. Covered elsewhere. If you get the Kies software, it provides drivers.
Connect the phone to the PC using the USB data cable supplied by Samsung. Be in Kies mode in the phone (covered in the video).
Windows will automatically detect the internal modem of your phone
Go to the control panel and select “Phone and Modem”.
Click on the “Modem” tab.
Select the modem by highlighting it.
Select “Properties”.
In Windows 7, at the “General” tab, select “Change Settings” – this will ask you to allow it to change the system. You must say yes, for the rest to work.
Select the “Advanced” tab.
Type in at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”internet2.voicestream.com” Exactly as seen here.
Select the “Diagnostics” tab.
Select “Query Modem”.
Click “OK” after seeing the word “Success” in the response.
You should be able to use ANY 3G phone provided by T-Mobile that has a CDMA internal modem to connect your tethered PC to the internet.
[SETUP DIALUP CONNECTION]
use:
*99#
as phone number. All else unchanged (but can set name of connection)
